Is it possible to run OpenLDAP without Kerberos? As far as I have seen is Kerberos the only part of the installation which needs the registry. All the rest seems to be located in folders.
During tests of application it could be very helpful to easy and fast set up an instance of OpenLDAP locally without Service, like a "PortableApp". Would that be possible?
Thanks for your help!

Hi.

Hi.

We are testing the latest version at the moment and it doesn't seem to depend on any Windows Registry keys.
Can you provide some sort of screenshot showing the error or problem? How can we test this problem locally?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

When installing the server I get the following:

slappasswd.exe - System Error

The program can't start because gssapi64.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

OK

As well the Client tools do not start without installation of Kerberos:

ldapsearch.exe - System Error

The program can't start because gssapi64.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

OK

If I install MIT Kerberos before, everything works fine.

This forum is slow but .. it works.

How did you infer that OpenLDAP is using the registry, in this case?
It might be the case that the installer 'forgets' to copy some files over and that's why you see that error message.

This is what I get when I execute ldapsearch on two different boxes (without MIT Kerberos):

ldap_initialize( ldap://melbourne:389/??base )
filter: (objectclass=*)
requesting: supportedSASLMechanisms
dn:
supportedSASLMechanisms: SRP
supportedSASLMechanisms: SCRAM-SHA-1
supportedSASLMechanisms: GSSAPI
supportedSASLMechanisms: GSS-SPNEGO
supportedSASLMechanisms: DIGEST-MD5
supportedSASLMechanisms: EXTERNAL
supportedSASLMechanisms: OTP
supportedSASLMechanisms: CRAM-MD5
supportedSASLMechanisms: NTLM
supportedSASLMechanisms: LOGIN
supportedSASLMechanisms: PLAIN
